Being a Professional

When college kids graduate and it is time to start our careers or some may say become adults, there are many things that have to change as we enter the business world. Being a professional on social media is one of the most important aspects of being successful in todays world. Coming out of college, most of us have pictures of the amazing parties, the great sporting events and all the beautiful women we had the pleasure of getting to know. But these are not things that need to be brought into your career. Becoming a professional and managing a professional social media profile starts the day graduation is over. All of the party pictures and posts become a thing of the past and no company or staffing director cares about how many women you got to know. They care about what you bring to their company and what you can do to make them better. managing yourself and your social media is so important because even those pictures that were from college that you thought you got rid of will never truly go away. The internet never forgets and this is even more food for thought as to maybe you shouldn't push the post button at the next frat party. I manage my profiles with the thought that every business or company that may look for me is the same as my grandmother looking at it. How disappointed would she be at seeing some things that get posted and how I will never disappoint a potential employer that way. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Snapchat are great tools for social marketing and staying connected, if used properly and professionally. So regardless of the stage you are at in your life or what you plan to accomplish in the next few years, maintaining a professional social media profile is the first step to getting that dream job you worked so hard for in college.
